Friday, November 29, 2024 - Genre frontrunner AMÉMÉ has teamed up with breakthrough talent Franc Fala to deliver their first-ever collaboration: infectiously groovy, feel-good Afro house track ‘Wait For You’. Premiered at this year’s ADE during AMÉMÉ’s signature One Tribe event at Amsterdam’s infamous Shelter, the highly-anticipated linkup has already garnered early support from heavyweights including Black Coffee, Camelphat, Hugel, BLOND:ISH, Marco Carola, THEMBA and more, revealing both producers’ creativity and artistic prowess within the sound and across the scene.
The collaboration arrives amid what has undeniably been a landmark year for Afro house. This year’s IMS Business Report revealed that Afro house is soaring to new heights, climbing nine spots on the Beatport sales chart in just two years—a rise that shows no signs of slowing. No stranger to success within the genre, Franc Fala is fresh off the release of ‘Yamore’, one of the summer’s biggest hits, in collaboration with MoBlack and Salif Keita, featuring Benja (NL) and Cesária Évora. The track has amassed nearly 100M Spotify streams in under six months, with over 3.15M Shazams and widespread support across the circuit from scene frontrunners including Black Coffee, Mau P, &friends and more.
AMÉMÉ has been at the forefront of the Afro house sound well before the genre’s recent surge in popularity. His NYC-based party, One Tribe, and its affiliated label, One Tribe Records, have cemented his reputation as a driving force in the Afro house scene. This past year has been monumental for the West-African born, Brooklyn- and Berlin-based DJ and producer, with standout releases on Black Book Records, Realm Records, Defected Records’ sub-label One People and more. Revitalized this year, AMÉMÉ’s One Tribe signature event series has continued to touch down in new destinations around the globe. Officially relaunching in London at fabric, followed by a big splash for a quarterly residency at Shelter in Amsterdam, a homecoming date to Brooklyn’s House of Yes, and other recent One Tribe dates in Ibiza and Egypt, the next official One Tribe event is coming up at Art Basel in Miami. The year has also seen major sets at iconic parties such as Jamie Jones’ Paradise, Awakenings and Music On Festival in Amsterdam, London’s Junction 2 and multiple Ibiza shows alongside Fisher and Swedish House Mafia, Creamfields Chile, amongst others. Now, AMÉMÉ continues to champion emerging DJs and producers like Franc Fala, helping them make their indelible mark.
“When AMÉMÉ and I first started working on this track, we immediately felt the power of the guitar and percussion together. There’s something about that rhythm—simple but full of energy—that grabs you right away,” says Franc Fala. “We couldn’t stop sending the file back and forth. Every time we added a new touch, we found ourselves falling deeper into the track, more obsessed with the idea.”
“When Franc first sent me the first draft , and I heard the guitar riffs, I knew we had something to play with here,” says AMÉMÉ. “But it wasn’t until we were done with the track I realized what we created—and when I listened back—I felt like it transported me.”
The release brings the duo together for an audial journey that blends captivating rhythmics, vibrant riffs and sultry vocals for a rich sonic offering perfectly crafted to radiate warmth and ignite a feel-good atmosphere. Having already done a number in both Franc Fala and AMÉMÉ’s sets over the past few months, ‘Wait For You’ is set to continue to command dance floors worldwide.
“In AMÉMÉ, I saw the same drive that pushes me forward. It’s the kind of passion that doesn’t just fuel the track, but also the friendship between us. It’s not just about the track anymore; it’s about the journey we’re on together,” Franc Fala adds. “Whatever happens with this one, the experience has been worth it. And we’re just getting started.”
