  • Titled 'slash 010,' the EP marks the label founder's second release of original music on her own label.
  • Lead track ‘5 Mins Of Acid’ will be released on Friday, May 31.
  • ‘slash 010’ is the label’s tenth output since its inception mid-2022.

Wednesday, May 22, 2024 – KI/KI, the visionary behind burgeoning label slash, just announced her forthcoming EP on the imprint and revealed the details of its lead track. Marking the label’s tenth release, ‘slash 010’ employs KI/KI's own distinctive acid techno sound, marking a new chapter for the trailblazer as she embarks on a string of tour dates to bring her brand-new live show concept to fans across the world. The EP’s lead track, ‘5 Mins Of Acid’, will be released on Friday, May 31.

With a pulsating bass, dreamy pads and feisty acid riffs, ‘5 Mins Of Acid’ — a nod to her live concept recently premiered at Nuits sonores in Lyon, France, and already supported by the likes of Marlon Hoffstadt, Job Jobse, Patrick Maison, Benwal and Frankyeffe — radiates infectious energy, showcasing KI/KI’s unique sound: fast yet dreamlike, futuristic yet nostalgic, intense yet always euphoric. The artwork, with its blurred smiley faces, pays homage to the rave culture, as if they are bouncing to the music.

KI/KI took to social media today to share the news, saying: “I wrote this track on a flight from Melbourne to Pitch Music & Arts last year, aiming to create something that truly resonates with me and embodies my deep love for acid music. I first played a version of it at my ‘5HRS OF ACID’ event last year, and the incredible response inspired me to refine it further. This track captures everything I adore about electronic music and holds a special place in my heart as it marks the tenth release on slash.”

Previous outputs from the label include, amongst others, subtle techno bangers courtesy of Australian-born Alpha Tracks (who was the first to release on the label), ethereal trance tracks from Berlin-based DJ, producer and Nachtcrew co-founder DINA, and a first re-issue of a true classic and personal favorite of KI/KI’s: ‘Emerald’ by Swiss production group Artemis. KI/KI herself has been on remix duties for several of the EPs. Explore the full discography via the label’s linktree.

‘5 Mins Of Acid’ will be available via Armada Music on May 31, 2024.

About KI/KI

From Amsterdam’s fertile underground to techno temples around the world, KI/KI is at the forefront of a new rave insurrection.

Shaped by the time-tried fundamentals of trance, acid and techno, she subtly constructs her own signature: a sound realm that’s fast but dreamlike, futuristic but nostalgic, severe but – at all times – euphoric.

Starting out as a resident DJ at queer stronghold Spielraum back in 2018, KI/KI has rapidly evolved into a nightlife bastion of her own. In the past years she’s made a mark with unforgettable all-nighters, curating her own ‘KI/KI invites’ series, upsurging Boiler Room views, and causing dancefloor frenzy from Säule to Bassiani to ∄.

As an artist, collaboration and community are essential to KI/KI’s craft. While festival stages and warehouses have become her second home, her heart still beats the loudest for the dark and intimate fringes of nightlife. Beyond music, this artistry bleeds into all forms of collaboration; resulting in, among others, her ‘not for sleeping’ project with Amsterdam fashion collective The New Originals.
