An ode to his island roots, themes of water flow throughout the project, sonically through his signature aquatic-style pluck sounds and visually within the release artworks, logos, titles and live visuals. “The premise of water being so involved comes from the Balearic, moody island approach I try to infuse into the melodies,” says Mahalo. “Throughout the album, I embody this theme to honor the deep-rooted significance that water, and being fluid, has had in my life."

‘Currents’ takes listeners on a journey with captivating tracks such as lead single ‘Got A Friend’, which is lined with the seductive R&B-tinged vocals of Guillaume Gordon in their second single following 2021’s ‘Destination’. Working with many of this generation’s up-and-comers, the album is chock full of collaborations including ‘Think About Me’ with Swedish Red Elephant, ‘Careless’ with Milkwish feat. Lena Leon, and ‘Body Love’ with DLMT, the third linkup between the pair following their chart-topping 2019 hit, ‘So Cold’.

Mahalo adds: "Currents take us, and anything caught in them, to unexpected places. This body of work represents that sentiment. With love... and as always, Aloha."
